It’s a new year. So, it’s time for change.
In a massive leap of faith, I am taking my scruffy voice and melodic messages to YouTube and beyond to get these songs out of my room and into the universe. These songs are weighing me down and need to be released to find their true potential.
I love the Substack platform and intend to publish here first before letting the song spread its wings into the greater musical world. Plus, I am grateful for the handful of subscribers that joined the journey early and continue to push me forward.
I’ve settled on an approach that allows me to produce songs in a way that I can sustain the effort. In the recent past, I’ve neglected any sort of regular output and that is not fair to the listeners and builds up a backlog of songs to get out.
So here is what is new for 2024 to overcome my lack of on-stage performing:
Song Lyric Videos - A selection of mostly new, but some older, songs are slated for videos. These are traditional lyric videos with a visual twist. I try to provide a storytelling scenario to aid the song presentation. It’s still up to each viewer to interpret the message and meaning.
This is a low resolution preview of what to expect:
The new video feature on Substack allows me to offer these song lyric videos with good quality and possibly provide more live song snippets.
In addition, these lyric videos will be uploaded to YouTube as a sort of a repository for my songs. It’s easier to get other folks to watch a YouTube link, since Substack is somewhat of a specialist zone.
Here is the first video on the Scobiphonic YouTube channel. Admittedly, not a stellar start, but that first step is a doozy. I plan to drop lyric videos fairly often to clean the backlog of 15 songs waiting to see the light of the internet.
I am someone who loves change. It keeps the blood flowing with excitement and unknown challenges. And it might lead to new discoveries in new territories.
So, this new approach is putting my belief into practice.
Thanks for all your attention and time in the past. We all anticipate 2024 as a turbulent year in wake of current events and electoral changes ahead in the USA.
As the Grateful Dead sang in Truckin’:
Sometimes the light's all shinin' on me Other times, I can barely see Lately, it occurs to me What a long, strange trip it's been

If you like the songs and/or essays, please help me distribute them by sharing and following me on Substack and now YouTube.
I appreciate your time and support in this endeavor.
