Lyric Video: Gaza Strip Is Falling Down (Original Song #18 - Adaptation)

When a child's nursery rhyme turns into a death march

Prelude

When faraway atrocities occur day to day for months at a time, they get normalized. The horrific news reports flash by in minutes, too short a time for us to stay unsettled. We make mental recognition of the presented facts and quickly move on to other matters.

Songs, especially nursery rhymes, stick in our minds. They don’t allow us to forget the message or words. They can last for years, decades and centuries.

The earliest version of London Bridge Is Falling Down was penned in the 17th century. It now serves as the foundation for this song adaptation.

Dedicated To

The Palestinian press corps

Images taken during wartime carry both responsibility and risk. Trying to document the truth in danger zones requires grit, guts and special character. The losses absorbed by the press in the Gaza Strip are sickening and unprecedented.

Without these brave journalists, the truth becomes malleable. The targeted assassination of Palestinian press members and their families speaks to their critical importance.

Research & Support

The following organizations are a starting point from which to research the issues related to journalists and provide support, if warranted. I have no affiliation nor insights into the merits of each.
