Lyric Video: The Prince of No Peace (Original Song #19)

Is the Prince of Peace a misnomer? Why does war always prevail?

Prelude

There’s a lot of religious overtures interspersed among the ugly scenes of death and destruction in Israel and the Gaza Strip. This is the land of biblical scripture that portends to reveal God’s relationships with people for thousands of years.

In Christianity, Jesus is also known as the Prince of Peace. His self-sacrifice to die on the cross for humankind’s sins allowed us to remain in God’s good standing. In essence, Jesus was a peace offering.

Even with such a sacrifice, humans can never maintain peace and always resort to war. We are killing machines. Peace is for pushovers.

History is not infallible. The human record proves that Jesus was really the Prince of No Peace.

Dedicated To

The children of Palestine

If you want to find truth, look into the eyes of children. They stare right into your soul and wound your heart.

We expect adults to be the victims of war and politics. We don’t expect kids to be bloodied and crushed on the frontlines. In Gaza, there are no boundaries, neither as criteria for killing combatants, nor as areas sealed off as safe havens.

Disheveled young kids wander around cement ruins trying to pick up the pieces left of their lives. They walk without purpose or belief. They stumble in a stupor.

News coverage of these misplaced children is heart-wrenching. However, though war-hardened, these kids somehow keep their dignity intact.

When religion and politics fail, I draw the line at the treatment of children. If you don’t protect and safeguard the innocent, then your cause is worthless.

Support

My approach to giving aid is to find those organizations that are on the ground in the conflict zone. Funding for large international operations tends to diminish in administrative and overhead costs. That’s my perspective from working in Africa and Asia.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) is locally independent, but is associated with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Its mission is to work towards promoting health, alleviate human suffering and provide emergency services, whether during war or peace.
