I wrote this song in 2000. It's really my first ever complete song.
I didn't know a lick about music theory or song structure back then. I just played the chords that sounded right and hammered a few strings. Inspiration is a wonderful thing.
It also helps to have lived in Texas for decades and store the American songbook in between your ears.

Lyrics:
Have you seen the new born son? Have you seen him rise and shine? Have you seen this new born son of mine? In the morning he'll get you up early He brings light to the day At night don't you worry He settles down and soon fades away Have you seen the new born son? Have you seen him rise and shine? Have you seen this new born son of mine? Every day is a new beginning It's all so bright and so clear If darkness comes without warning You step into the warmth of the son You step into the warmth of the son Have you seen the new born son? Have you seen him rise and shine? Have you seen this new born son of mine?
