I live in the tropics. I grew up in North Texas.
One swelters with humidity, the other one stifles your senses in the dry heat of summertime.
Minus the sweat, North Texas was a good training ground for the constant temperatures of living only four degrees north of the equator.
I love heat. I hate cold. I can function in the former.
And now that the world is heating up on both war and economic fronts, I’m glad I didn’t grow up in International Falls, Minnesota, the "Icebox of the Nation".
Though, I was born next door in Rapid City, South Dakota.
I’ve seen snow, it’s overrated.
Sometimes the heat makes me nostalgic. I think back to the flatlands and heatwaves of my time in Texas and wonder why I roamed so far away.
Song Background:
This song is quiet. It is contemplative for a purpose.
It looks back at the slowly setting sun that reminds me of my past and present.
Lyrics cannot do justice for all the feelings in those moments, so there are none.
Shout Out:
For everyone living in North Texas, and everyone who escaped.
Chords:
