Original Song #7 - Hold On

A simple message with a powerful truth

There's a lot of pain in the world right now. It can be a mental struggle to ward off all the negativity that permeates daily life.

It seems hard to just keep up your own spirits, as well as fight for others not as fortunate. The sense of community is lost in the profit margins of big business and the poll margins of corrupt politicians.

Sometimes you just need to be your own source of strength to hold on and move forward.

Song Background:

Song ideas don't just appear without cause. For me, the circumstances of the moment and my mood usually muster up a particular guitar lick or word phrase acting as kindling to the fire.

After weeks of hanging on to a simple six-note intro, the whole verse and song came together when a close family friend passed away. On that sad day, my head could only think about how cold and cruel the world really is. Inspiration is not always a pleasant experience.

Shout Out:

There's a lot of folks who need this simple message. So this is for anyone who feels underwater from life's burdens. The sun will rise.

Lyrics:

When the world is cold and cruel
And there's not much you can do
You gotta find a way to fight the pain
And navigate through rough terrain
Hold On

Ohh, the sadness is just part of the deal
Ohh, the madness all seems so unreal
It's time to hold on to your sanity
And carry the weight of your humanity

When the light fades from the day
And there's nothing left to say
You gotta dig deep within your soul
And bury the hate that's in control
Move On

Ohh, the sadness is just part of the deal
Ohh, the madness all seems so unreal
It's time to hold on to your sanity
And carry the weight of your humanity

Hold on now
Hold on somehow
The sun will rise
So open your eyes

When the world is cold and cruel
And there's not much you can do
You gotta find a way to fight the pain
And navigate through rough terrain
Hold On
